Belgian Marine Data Centre
Beta version
The aim of this page is to offer an overview of specific scientific dashboards that are developed by Belgian Marine Data Centre.
Beach Litter Dashboard
On this dashboard we present data on marine litter collected through the Proper Strand Lopers citizen science initiative within its VOOS (Voor Onze Oostendse Stranden) project. This initiative contributes to Belgium's Action Plan on Marine Litter, which seeks to address marine pollution through prevention, monitoring, and cleanup efforts in line with the Marine Strategy Framework Directive.
Marine Forecasting Centre
Formerly part of the "Management Unit of the Mathematical Model of the North Sea and Scheldt Estuary", the marine forecasting centre of the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences (RBINS) issues 5-day forecasts of the marine conditions in the North Sea twice a day. These forecasts are used in numerous applications to support the missions and activities of Belgian and foreign public sectors (federal, regional, marine forecasting centres of neighbouring countries, European agencies, etc.); Belgian and foreign private sectors (operators of offshore wind parks, fishing industry, tourism and leisure industries, etc.); and Belgian and foreign scientific research sectors (universities and research centres).
